Mission Statement
The mission of Four Squares Bennett High School is to acquire materials that will enrich and develop the curriculum; meet varied interests, abilities, and maturity levels; meet the individual learning styles of students; stimulate growth in research skills, factual knowledge, literary appreciation, aesthetic values, and ethical standards; encourage the development of self-awareness, decision-making, and life role skills; represent diverse religious, ethnic, and cultural groups and their contributions to society; develop life long learners.
To promote continuous and cooperative planning for utilization of appropriate resources to support all instructional activities.
To provide information and to promote involvement of students, parents, and community.
To maintain a current collection of print and non-print materials and equipment through selective acquisition and systematic weeding.
Policies and Procedures
Check-Out: Students may check out 2 books at a time. Books are due every 10 days with an overdue fine of 5¢ per day.
Services: Students may print to a black/white printer for 10¢ per sheet and 25¢ per sheet to print to the color printer. Zerox copies are also available for 10¢ per sheet. The media center provides a school store for basic emergency school supplies. (Price list at circulation desk)
Computer Use: There are 16 student computers available for use throughout the day. Students are not guaranteed the right to access the Internet and will lose all Internet privileges if caught violating the Acceptable Use Policy. In addition, no student may use the Internet unless an Acceptable Use Policy is on file. All computers are for school use only. (No chatting, emailing, gaming, shopping or websites unrelated to school work allowed per Floyd County Policy.) If a student uses the Internet inappropriately, they are immediately referred to an administrator.
Access: Students must sign in at the circulation desk if they visit the media center during class time. Students are expected to have a pass from their teacher and a task to work on when entering the media center.
